I had a Focus Mk1 1.8 Zetec it had circa 80k on the clock when it was written off. It never needed topping up between it's annual oil change. Same with my current Mk2 1.6, never moves off the full maker on the dip stick, in fact that goes for all the cars I've owned in the last forty odd years.

The engine revs fine in idle, but when it has to move the weight of the car, too much throttle can cause it "jerk" forward, like a mild form of Kangarooing! Easing off the accelerator calms it down and then it can drive ok again.

My ford manual indicates my 1.6 Zetec SE engine requires oil spec ESD-M2C 186-A (2.3 litres of the stuff), whereas the Haynes manual suggests I use WSD-M2C 200-C (which the ford manual says its for 2.0 Zetect-E, 1.8 Endura and 2.0 Duratec engines).
Posted June 1, 2016. OK, I had some work done to the car about 6-8 weeks ago, under warranty, as I had just bought the car used. The work carried out was to do with the inlet cam actuator, but it also had a solenoid and cambelt replacement. Before the work, I check the spark plug wells and it was as clean as a whistle in there.
