Mar 22, 2022. I am new to the R6 and running firmware 1.5.0. Occasionally when the camera can not achieve focus easily, i.e. low contrast, it starts hunting, but VERY quickly. It seems to pulse back and forth like crazy. This has happened to me on different Canon RF lenses such as the 24-70 2.8, 24-105 4.0, 70-200 2.8.
I'm curious to know AnnaMaria if you purchased another 6D Mark ii after returning the defective one? And if so, was it okay. I'm really concerned that I'm going to get my camera back and it will stil have an issue. Kinda wishing I had just returned it now wrote: I am having that exact same focusing issue. full polarization shifted the focus a large amount, about 1 inch from original focus point. (not visible in camera optical finder, only in zoomed 100% on camera LCD) This has stunned me! I had been seeing the focus un-sharp on images of faces up close using my 70-200 IS 4.0 & my 24-105 which is why I ran the test.

While shooting my either my 24-70, 100-400 mk II, or 500mm mk II, the body will get locked into manual focusing. Regardless of the lens, it disables auto focus entirely. Actually I feel the AF on my 7d mark ii is working fine. In fact all the concerns of the AF or IQ arise from my plan to buy a Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens in the near future. Because I heard some perple having front or back focus problems with those lens, so I just try to pratice how to test the AF performance of a lens.
